Which type of government do you support?

Post  New-Zealand on Fri Apr 26, 2013 12:53 pm

You may only choose one. So choose the one you would prefer to live under.

So basically you are a normal civilian, you have the choose of living in a country, Which form of government would you want that country to have?

Although the choices seems to be too restrictive like monarchy where there could be absolute and constitutional ones, well I have cast my vote :-D

There are more options available than that, and those options aren't exclusive. For example, you could have a country that's an oligarchy, monarchy, democracy, and theocracy at the same time. Although I'm not sure if you mean theocracy or ecclesiocracy; either would work.

I'm talking about the central concept. For example a constitutional monarchy would still be considered democracy, as it is mostly a demcracy with a bit of monarcy.

In that sense, from Monarchy, I will choose Democracy.

Well, what do you mean "Central concept"?
Are we talking about the foundation of a state's legitimacy?

Well my choice is Communism:
1) Communism is about the people running the country and the leader as a figure head.
2) 1st group to have equality for woman. It is not hypocritical as the Capitalist.
Bad things about it
1) The government decides on what the people can have, rather than what they want. (Rather than people be greedy like corporate buissnesses) Most all businesses are owned by Government
2) Productivity is low because everyone gains same amount of money

No albion. I'm talking about who makes the countries decisions. Is it an elected parliament (Democracy)? Is it a single person who is king/queen (Monarchy)? You get what I'm saying?

I would like Liberal Socialism (Like the policy taken on by Sweden), with a few reasonable restrictions (Like gun control and stuff) but not phone hacking and invasion of privacy.

The I still don't see the exclusivity.
If you had all local decisions conducted via council, and all national decisions conducted by the monarch, then the core concept would be: Micro democratic-oligarchy, macro monarchism.

Albion, it's the general concepts were dealing with here. If you wanted a poll which expresses every possible combination of every possible variation of every single system to ever exist, well, we'd still be waiting for New Zealand to finish the list he started yesterday. :P

No, poorly said. If I was to make a poll on ethnicities, I'd expect more than just "Are you black, white, Arabic, or Asian?" - After all, what of the Slavs and the Turks? Or the Persians? Even with Asians, how do you distinguish between Indians and Chinese or Japanese? Or the North American Mongoloids? You get the point.

So, here, there isn't a difference between Absolute and Constitutional Monarchy, - Where would you class the Most Serene Commonwealth of Poland Lithuania: Monarchy or Oligarchy? And the same question for crowned republics? Is the Mongolian Khanate a Monarchy or Ecclesiocracy? Likewise for Andorra. What of Liechtenstein: Is that a Monarchy or Democracy? Because it's certainly not the same sort of Democracy as the USA - it is a Direct Democracy with a powerful Monarchy. Communism and Anarchism cross over at various places: How do you separate the USSR from some rag-adorned hippies in a commune? Malaysia is a Federalised Monarchy, what's up with that? Et cetera, ad nausium.

The British Empire, for example, was both a Representative Democracy and Constitutional Monarchy. It would be immensely crude (and wrong) to say it was either a Democracy or Monarchy. But I agree that creating a poll with all the possibilities would take forever, so I have a suggestion: Why not just scrap the poll, and let someone briefly name their position? That way, people don't get pushed down one line or another that they might not wholly agree with. More accurate, y'see.

Ah, so basically this boils down to your inability to take criticism.

I'm pretty sure if you asked anybody here what political system they support, they wouldn't give a one world pre-school answer.

I support a socialist government, you can do whatever you want as long as you fallow the governments rules. Not as brutal as communism and not as unfair as capitalism

The form of government I applied to New Tarajan perfectly answers for me XD
I'm a great supporter of monarchy: more exactly, a sort of fusion between a absolute monarchy (inspired by the positions of Jean Bodin and, eventually, Julius Evola), and that kind of liberalism as designed by John Stuart Mill and Jeremy Bentham (practically, "do what you want in your private sphere of life").

Personally I hold to libertarian ideals and direct democracy(Not modern democracy) tempered with good social order.

If anything it would be some kind of Democracy mixed with integralism.

I believe citizenship should be earned through military service and only citizens should have the right to vote, sit on political bodies(senate, parliament etc), hold public office, owning firearms and being employed management level in corporations or business.

In other words a modernised Athenian democracy.
