Roleplay Rules Formulation

Post  Xolox on Sun Sep 14, 2014 2:20 pm

Recently in the roleplay, I realized there are lines that need to be drawn, for realism and the sake of my sanity. I think we should all come together and clarify what is allowed and what isn't. Some god-modding has been going and there currently aren't really any rules against it. Also: Do we go solely by the statistics in the NSeconomy? If so, maybe we should have an equation for them in order to make them more realistic.

We currently have the Realistic Roleplaying Act, check it out. It brings down the explosive static numbers into realistic levels by dividing all values by 10.

One of my ideas to make roleplay wars more fair: The nations must fight in turns. It is not fair to take advantage of the absence of a player. No updates on the actual combat may take place until the opponent(s)(whoever was attacked) responds. Regular news updates are allowed.

An example of this and its effects when practiced freely is the completely lopsided Chinese-Articmanian war currently going on.

Indeed. I have been thinking about this to propose into law. However, we should add more rules. Let us take note of this,

* Military advancement by turns

Other ideas?

Maybe we could say that you must clarify the numbers. When a country sends its troops somewhere, tell how many troops were sent there. Also, both sides must state approximate losses after a battle( and I guess we should come up with a standard for determining that as well). This would assist other countries in better understanding a nation's tactical situation and prevent wars from going on forever because every country has ∞ troops.

True, since we cannot rely always with NS trackers that sometimes fail, I propose that we use the formula of "NS Population x .001 = RP Military Force" to bring our total militaries to realistic levels. What can you say?

I disagree with this. We need to incorporate how geared towards military the countries are. Maybe use defense forces calculation and military budget to help better represent this? The one you proposed would poorly accommodate countries like my own (who highly prioritize on the military) and more pacificistic countries.

I counter with: population(0.001Defense_Forces)= RP Military Force

This is the only way I think we could all be on a level of playing field. But if you have other mechanism feel free to share it. Also, I could say that my proposed formula would be the basis for a 'maximum size of military' to give way to pacifist nations who don't want to have a military.

Huh?

Sometimes the playing field is not level. That's what alliances are for. Sorry if that formula was confusing.

Population * ( 0.001 * The defense forces statistic under analysis ) = RP Military Force

I guess we would also divide the result by 10 in accordance with your realism act.

What is this defense forces statistics under analysis? For the time being, we need to forget about the dividw by 10 policy as we might come up with better realistic formulas.

If you go to your nation's page on nation states and click the analysis button, you can choose the defense forces category. The number that comes up is what I am referring to.

Ohhhhhhhh.... what does number represent??? Can you show us how to compute your own military under your proposed formula?

I guess it represents a nation's security against other nations.

1,517,000,000 * (0.001 * 253)= X
1,517,000,000 * 0.253= X
383,801,000 = X

This number would probably have to be brought down, but I propose this is how we achieve the base number.

Hmmm, after these base numbers and defense analysis taken fron answering NS issues, we can apply the divide by 10 policy?

Hence, we could say, Xolox has an RP population of 150 million with a standing army of 38 million. Is this realistic?

It is realistic when you consider my country's attitude towards military and warfare. That's why I proposed the adjustment to the formula.

So (population * defense forces)/100,000 would directly equal your RP Military

Just population/10. I thought the militaries should be lower because I compared them to real world populations and militaries. This way makes us a little closer.

I'm getting convinced with your proposed formula. How about we have a new nation. I mean newly created nation with 5 million population but I don't know with his defense forces analysis? What would be his military?
